About Woodsen Plummer

As an instructional leader with over 15 years of experience, I focus on delivering results-driven learning initiatives that help individuals and organizations achieve their full potential. I am resourceful, action-oriented, and passionate about using training to support implementation and improve outcomes. Instructional facilitation runs in my veins, and I derive immense satisfaction from seeing my learners succeed in their professional and personal pursuits. I specialize in training facilitation, resource management, and program evaluation, and I am committed to creating learning programs that are innovative, engaging, and transformative.

 

My passion for instructional design and professional development began years ago when I started leading curriculum writing teams. My expertise in literacy instruction allowed me to quickly rise through the ranks and become a curriculum coordinator, where I was responsible for creating comprehensive teaching resources across multiple grade levels. Through this experience, I learned the value of effective professional development, and I've made it my mission to provide educators with the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.

 

Presently, I serve as a curriculum coordinator specializing in literacy instruction, with a passion for helping teachers take a deep dive into the Science of Reading. With years of experience as an English teacher and instructional coach, I have a deep understanding of what it takes to create engaging and effective lessons -- professional development, curriculum writing, and instructional coaching -- all of which are designed to help teachers improve their craft and become more confident and effective in the classroom.

K-5 RESOURCE TRAINING HISTORY

Facilitated instructional resource adoption to support and accelerate student learning. Led review committee to consider alignment of instructional materials with the state content standards and the district curriculum. Led multiple trainings - internal and external - to provide overviews and digital access support. Data gathered of teacher attendance district-wide (75+ schools and centers).

DISCIPLINARY LITERACY

Specialize in disciplinary literacy. The focus is on the specialized text features and reading and writing approaches that are unique to each field of study. Through instructional programs and resources, I aim to help teachers grasp the complexities of disciplinary literacy in a way that will empower them to help students navigate the specialized reading and writing requirements of their chosen discipline.
